Valletta Malta

After reading  an article on an English young man who has been travelling in all the countries so 207,  I start counting myself and I find out that I had visited 53 countries so far ...no bad... but still a lot to see.
This year I am glad to add one to the list : Malta.
I have always been attracted by Malta because of its history and mainly because of the templar .
Valletta is very well preserved and even more well restored, paid by the European community. It will be the European capital of culture in 2017 and Valletta deserve it. The city is spectacular, and very clean.
What to do: of course visit the cathedral and some of the 365 churches on the island.
Make sure you visit the beautiful village of M'dina.
Stay away from the east coast which is full of cheap resorts, and the waterfront (cruise boats)

May is a very good period to go there for a long week end and take a bit of sun. The weather is lovely the food is very good, however no interesting shopping and the place is not chic.
Hotel : Phoenicia
Restaurant: Malata, Rampilla, D'office , Omerta Trattoria.
